Greetings all,
So today is a big day for the Justin.tv network - we have launched our first new channel: iJustine!
We are very very excited. In addition we have made some minor changes to the site as well including: improved tips, improved schedule, improved twitter, faster loading times, live for counter, and volume control.
Also, we launched OfficeCam - a muted high quality live camera so you can watch us working hard to improve the website and add features!
Thanks for watching and stay tuned!

Welcome to the New Justin.tv
Greetings,
It is an exciting day for us at Justin.tv as we roll out our entirely new site. Jacob (our new designer), Emmett (our web hacker), and Kyle (our streaming video genius) have worked very very hard to deliver you a brand new viewing experience.
Take a second to explore the new features:
Tips - Sharing live video seemed hard before but we now offer a solution. Viewers can now Tip (tag + clip = tip) specific moments in the Justin.tv timeline and share them with all of their friends. When submited tips (try clicking on the flag button on the new video player) they appear on the page below the video and can be voted on (like digg or reddit).
Justin.tv Archiver - Now viewing archive video is much easier than before. Click the archive button on the top of the video (next to the live button) and you can explore a calendar of Justin.tv video. Give it a try - just don't try to explore video from 4 years ago (we were still in college and we choose not to share those clips *grin*).

Justin.tv Embed and Tip url - Sharing Justin.tv content is easier than ever before. Want to embed our live stream onto your website - copy and paste the embed code and you are set. Want to share a great Tip with your friends - click on the Tip and the url automatically appears below the video - feel free to email it or IM it to your friends.

Karma - Now viewers can earn Karma points for contributing to the site. Explore our features and see your points rack up. Think you've got what it takes to be on the Justin.tv top ten karma list? We'll see...
So thats all the exciting stuff... on the backend we have worked on tasks such as getting the video and chat working right (arg... live video and chat are hard) and building an open ended system to allow others to Lifecast along with Justin (exciting!).
Thank you for visiting the site and enjoy the new system. Stayed tuned as we continue to roll out new features and new shows on the Justin.tv network.
Peace,
Michael

FAQ
What is Justin.tv?
Justin.tv is a platform for live video online. The Justin.tv Show is the first of many life video shows to be featured on the Justin.tv Network.
How did you think of this idea?
Justin and Emmett were driving around late at night in Boston trying to figure out what to do about their previous startup (Kiko Calendar) after Google Calendar dried up the early adopter market. Justin realized that their conversation might be interesting for other young entrepreneurs, then thought that perhaps you can create really compelling content by just live broadcasting the lives of ordinary people, then thought... why don't I wear a camera on my head 24/7.
How do I get a camera?
Justin.tv is an open live video network and "cameras" are based on completely off the shelf parts. All you need to broadcast is a computer, a webcam, and an internet connection. If you want to set yourself up like Justin, we recommend using an ultra light laptop, extended life laptop battery, a portable usb webcam w/ microphone, and an EVDO Rev A modem.
How did the Justin.tv team meet?
Justin, Emmett, and Jacob grew up together in Seattle, WA. Justin, Emmett, and Michael graduated together from Yale in 2005. Justin and Emmett recruited Kyle as a Junior at MIT. We all currently live in SF.
I heard you guys are funded by Y Combinator. What's that?
Y Combinator is a new kind of venture firm specializing in funding early stage startups. We help startups through what is for many the hardest step, from idea to company. Its partners include: Trevor Blackwell, Paul Graham, Jessica Livingston, and Robert Morris. Go to ycombinator.com to learn more.
How do I advertise on the show/website?
There are a number of ways to advertise on Justin.tv - both within the show itself and on our webpage. To learn more please email: michael@justin.tv
When does Justin take the camera off?
Justin.tv is a 24/7 show but we let him take the camera off in the shower, when he is asleep (he sets the camera up on a tripod next to his bed), and when we have really important meetings (he is a co-founder of a company after all).
What do the Justin.tv team members do?
Justin wears the camera and handles content. Emmett programs the website. Kyle handles all the streaming video. Jacob designs the website. Michael does the business.
How do I start my own show?
Funny you should ask - we are on the verge of opening up our network. If you are interested in being a part of the open beta, enter your email everyday at 12 noon PST on the Justin.tv homepage. We will send out a few beta codes a day, so keep trying if you don't get one at first.
How do I use IRC with your chat system?
1) Download a client:
* For windows: get mIRC at http://www.mirc.com/get.html
* For Mac OS X: get Colloquy at http://colloquy.info/downloads.html
2) Connect to the Justin.TV IRC server at irc.justin.tv
3) You can find your password by selecting either the "users" tab or "rooms" tab above the chat window.
4) If you log into chat and your name begins with "justinfan", your client hasn't been successfully authenticated. Type the following in your IRC client window:
* /identify username password
and your nickname will be set correctly.
5) If you are still having trouble, please email jacob@justin.tv and we'll try to help you out!
Chat Guidelines:
Chat rooms are moderated to provide a clean chatting environment. Currently our chat rooms are moderated by volunteer fans taking their own time to regulate, but really, self-moderation is the responsibility of everyone. In the future we will have a more standardized system for moderating chat.
Inappropriate chat behavior includes all forms of spam, excessive profanity (any profanity in moderated chat), and any derogatory or racial comment or activity. Depending on the severity of the violation, moderators have the discretion to either kick you from the room temporarily or ban you from chat all together.
Chat Emoticons:
Type the following key commands for some fun emotions in chat!

Horny <3

Press Center
Justin.tv is the leader in live video, and the place to broadcast and share video online. Our community consists of over 1 million registered users, and the site receives millions of unique visitors per month and hundreds of millions of pageviews per month.
Founded in October 2006, Justin.tv began as the crazy brainchild of its founder, Justin Kan, who decided it would be really cool if he could broadcast his entire life, 24/7, to the Internet. To make his idea a reality, he enlisted the help of his friends Michael, Emmett and Kyle, and raised a seed investment from Y Combinator. Together, the team launched "Justin.tv," the very first lifecast, on March 19, 2007. After gaining the national media spotlight, hundreds of people started asking for the ability to broadcast their own channels. As a result, the team went back to work to build the ultimate platform for live video on the web.
