New Friday, New Features
One cool new feature this week is a feed of recent actions on user profiles. You can now see a short summary of what someone has done recently, with awesome links! I think this will really help give a better sense for what my friends are doing around the site.
We added a new broadcasting feature from SeeToo which lets you broadcast any movie file from your desktop straight to Justin.tv. You can scroll through the file at will and switch files on the fly. Budding VJs, take note!
I've also put in a number of performance fixes, and I'll be releasing more throughout the week.

Justin.tv invents a second job title: Scalability Engineer
From the team that brought you "lifecaster", we bring a new job category: Scalability Engineer.
We made up "Scalability Engineer" as a job title while brainstorming about how to describe the next person we wanted to hire. I hope it does become an established category, because maybe then it would be easier to find one!
We're regular readers of highscalability over at Justin.tv, so I'm flattered to see our new job posting linked to from there.

Newest Justin.tv Staff
Hi there! As you all probably saw, last week Justin.tv announced they were looking for a Community Manager to join the JTV team. They found that person and it happens to be me! Hurray!
I'm really excited to be apart of the JTV team and I'm even more excited to start the process of getting to know all of you. I have a pretty open door policy, I will try to do as much broadcasting on my channel as possible and I'm hoping to be lounging around the office cam channel and help. I'll be taking over Office hours for Phil and looking to do a new line up.
So to tell you a little about myself, I'm a geeky 26-year-old lady living in the SF bay area. I'm a gamer, musician, artist and kind of all around jill-of-all-trades. Oh, I'm also an Esperantist! If any of you JTVers happen to be into it or are learning, hit me up!
If you want to get a chance to know me better feel free to hit me up on my JTV Email tia-marie@justin.tv. Don't get offended if I don't respond right away! I want to hear from you! Do you have a suggestion on how we can make JTV better? Great! Send me your questions, comments and concerns. l will do my best to get back to you in a timely manner!

Thanks JTV for Bay to Breakers!
This year we had an awesome time at Bay2Breakers with the JTV team. Not all of us (or even most of us) finished the race, but we definitely showed up in style! Thanks Krystyl for organizing!

New Release: Privacy Controls, Inbox Controls, and more!
We just rolled out our weekly Friday release a day early! Here's what's new today:
- Inbox Controls. Select all your messages, mark them as read, or delete them with many fewer clicks!
- Hide Chat and Chat History. Now you can hide chat and/or chat history from your channel if you'd like.
- Fixed Bandwidth Detector. The bandwidth detector on the broadcaster should work now, yay!
- Turn off your live embed. You can now choose to make your content not embeddable.
- Many, many bug fixes. Now when you update your settings, things should change immediately.

Improved Search / Video
This week we rolled out some of Bill's improvements to Search - it now suggests when words are misspelled and includes all imported video clips - and we also moved our video entirely over to our new cluster, which should decrease load times significantly.
Here is a note from Kyle about the video improvements:
Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know about the new video code that we released last night. I'm very proud of the improvements we've made to improve the quality of your broadcasts.
The big fixes are:
1. No more pink pixels / video distortion.
2. Audio / Video sync is much much better with the Good broadcaster. (Video sometimes lagged behind audio by about 90ms)
3. Video is running in our own data center, which means faster load times.
4. Fixed the "Not Broadcasting" message that sometimes appeared when you were actually broadcasting.
Known issues:
1. As of this morning, FME was not working for some users, and a very small percent of users could not broadcast at all. I found this bug (thanks to Jmann) and patched it, although it may continue to affect some users throughout the day.
2. Some users have reported that the Best broadcast will not broadcast audio. The Best broadcaster is an ActiveX plugin written by On2, so we can't fix it immediately but we have filed bug reports with their developers. In the mean time, you can use Flash Media Encoder to get the same great quality.
Please comment here if there is anything else you'd like me to take a look at or need help with!
Update: After the new updates we had a new high with over 45,000 simultaneous viewers today!

Downtime
Sorry everyone for the down time this morning. Our connection to our bandwidth provider broke, and it took several hours to figure out what the problem was. We're looking into getting a backup bandwidth provider so that this won't happen again.
