Broadcasting Quality Goes To 11
April 20, 2010 by Evan

We just launched a change to our web broadcaster that will make your video look a lot better. Pictures really tell this story best, take a look.

This is the old broadcaster. See how Michael is all pixelated? He’s not happy.

This is the new broadcaster. See how Kyle looks nice and clear? He’s happy!

Now whenever you broadcast on Justin.tv your video will instantly look better. Now everybody can look as happy as Kyle.

I have been broadcasting with 1500kbps h264 via FME for a long time but have never gotten a HQ badge. How is it triggered?

Will these changes have any effect on the Ipod/Iphone version?

Will Dearborn, to answer your question, with h.264 whenever you use 600 kbps or more for video you will get a HQ badge, but it takes like 5-10 minutes. so in order to see it on your channel you would have to refresh the page. When you stop streaming it goes away.

How long before the picture quality improves across the site, the broadcaster i watch is still very much pixelated when he moves, and one other thing, with the iPhone / iTouch app, when are you getting the option to enter passwords when requested by the broadcasters channel.

As i’m getting the push notifications to say they’re ‘LIVE’ but because they’ve password protected their channel i’m unable to view them only on a PC / Laptop.
