Today we are launching a completely overhauled web broadcasting experience that makes it easier than ever to go live on Justin.tv. We have simplified every step of the process so you can go live and share the experience with your family, friends, and the world faster than ever.
When we watched people use the old version we noticed them spending a great deal of time and energy resubmitting forms, fiddling with Captchas, selecting categories, uploading images, selecting their camera, adjusting their bitrate, and other mundane tasks. We want people to spend less time configuring things and spend more time doing what they came to do – create live video.
This new version has been seen and tested by many of you for a few weeks now and the results are clear, the new version is dramatically better at helping people go live and connect with people they care about.
We can’t wait for everyone to give it a shot and change the way live video is produced on the web. Try it now at www.justin.tv/broadcast
I do not see a place for new accounts to obtain their FME .xml profile to broadcast via flash media encoder. Does this mean you are phasing out FME access to justin.tv for live streaming? I would surely hope not.
So far I have found that the broadcasting application "Cam Twist" no longer works with your new broadcasting set up. I was wondering the same thing about FME, I noticed there was a link to other ways of broadcasting and only listed was the $450 wirecast or Quick Time Broadcaster. It did have a code listed that provided info for those applications, but what about FME?
Not really liking it so far jtv. I understand making the process simple, but there are a lot of more advanced users who.. this doesn't appeal to. At all..
I now realized, that the only reason FME didn't show up was because im on my mac, and only the mac broadcasting options showed up. If you switch to PC and click on this link http://www.justin.tv/broadcast/advanced
You can get your FME code.
Cam Twist still doesn't work though.
Argh. Cam twist. Please, no, don't simplify it out of existence…
not good….i like the way it was !! again…CamTwist ! I think we will move to Ustream until there fix…sorry
In regard to my first post… there is still a way to download your fme xml profiles. Its: http:www.justin.tv/broadcast/advanced just as Aaron said. Hopefully JTV designers can easily solve this complaint by making /advanced easier to find for the everyday user. Just a thought.
And this NEW version completely locks up IE and Firefox when I have my WinTV device connected…in other words you broke it. There was NOTHING WRONG with the old version!
Everyone can still access the old broadcaster at http://justin.tv/broadcast
Until they change that too.
my camtwist still gets detected by my bcaster. make sure camtwits is opened before you open broadcaster. and help needed find me. i got it to work. peace
Hey Guys,
Camtwist should still work as usual with the new broadcaster. Make sure it's open when you load the page. For some of you there is actually a bug with the camera picker that may prevent some of your sources from showing up in the list at all. We will try to fix that soon.
As for anyone not showing up in the directory, that is a separate bug that affects some channels. It's a big deal to us and we're working hard to get it fixed asap.
Lastly, general concerns expressed regarding advanced broadcasting are great. We've found that a lot of you really want those options. It's clear that we can (and should) improve the new process but we found that the old system was very painful. Please accept my apology for breaking a couple eggs in the process!
